Best Of Gallery from Florida Craftwood

I just went through all the photos I have in the file and realized there were many cabinets that should be displayed together more precisely so that clients can better get a feel of what I am capable of. Here they are.

This first one was built several years ago and has quite a unique design. It is also displayed on my Facebook page.

Below was a unit that was built as a free standing piece that was screwed together and not fastened to the wall while the TV is fastened to the wall. This was built to match existing bookshelves in the room.

This is an office in a home near Plant City, FL. It is all birch wood that is stained dark. The design of the home allowed me to take a photo from outside the room through a window that is part of the interior design of the home.

The difference between me and the competition is simple. I have 40 years experience of doing the work. I know a total of 1 quality carpenter who has more expeience in all of Florida and he recently retired. A few years ago I changed the way I design cabinets a bit and started doing inset doors which look much more professional. Back on the older days all cabinets were built with inset doors and butt hinges before they updated the hardware so that we could use hardware that is concealed inside the cabinets.

Here is a bookcase cabinet with that detail although all the cabinets displayed are of this style.

The photo above is taken outside the room in the hallway at the top of the stairs.The design of the home has an window type opening into the room and the cabinet area to the right side is narrower to reveal back behind that opening.

Here is another entertainment center in south Tampa. All remote equipment is behind the vented decorative panels in the cabinet doors middle section.

Above the baseboard is not run around the base of the cabinet, instead a toe kick style is used that give the impression the unit has feet similar to a piece of furniture. The shelves have not been installed yet nor the hardware knobs for the doors. This unit has a chase for the TV that feeds into the base cabinet.

Below are office cabinet in a sunroom in Lakeland, FL. Shelves and hardware are not in yet. These are built of birch plywood and poplar facing. The holes into the base are where grommets will reside.

The following is a cabinet inside a family room in Brandon, FL. There is a small sink installed in the granite to be used where serving such things as tea, or other drinks, etc. This is built out of pine material.

The following is a red oak bookshelf cabinet that was inserted into a recessed area in the wall that was pre-existing in the foyer next to the front door. These are stained and sprayed with lacquer to a smooth finish. This is in Plant City, FL.

Here's a maple entertainment center that was installed into a recessed opening in a family room that had an arch design in the sheetrock above it. Mirror panels are installed in the back of the side shelf openings with glass shelves and lights above. This is in Lakeland, FL.

Below is another entertainment center layout with a mantel effect although the picture was taken when the cabinet has only been primed with paint. I wanted to add it here because of the design where an air conditioner return is inside the base cabinet right side. This is in south Tampa where older historical homes exist. The doors center have vented decorative panels, the right side is the return air for the air conditioner.

Red Oak Entertainment Center for 75 Inch TV

This is a recent project just finished where the unit is built as a separate piece of furniture that sits out from the wall and screws together.

Entertainment Center with mirrors, lights, glass shelves

The following entertainment center was installed with mirrors on the sides in the back with lights and glass shelves. The wood is maple and stained with Minwax Red Mahogany color.

There is still a small piece of baseboard required on each side that wraps the wall extension the entertainment center is recessed into. The lights are above the mirror sections each side and a dimmer switch is just inside behind the fluted pilasters. The recession into the wall was where a fake fireplace and space originally existed and was removed.

The recession into the wall has a curved top which required a top section to match the curve in order to cover the existing recession. This gives the unit a unique look since it does not protrude into the room.

The recessed section has a minor extension into the room that reveals the entire unit.

Pine Living Room Wall Cabinet with Sink

This is a pine cabinet with granite top constructed for a living room space where a small sink is utilized for serving tea, and any other refreshments where water is needed. The sink has been installed but not the faucet. See below.

This cabinet has some grain matching that can be seen in the drawers which adds to the look for quality purpose. There are windows on each side which adds some glare to the photo.

Photos again taken with my phone, so the quality of pictures are a little less than normally taken with a real camera. The availability of pine crown moulding has fallen off, so a different creation was used for the trim at ceiling. The cabinet is stained with a color named Hickory from Minwax and is a gel stain. Then lacquer is applied.

Bookshelf Cabinet Ceiling to Floor

This bookshelf cabinet is upstairs in a room that is just at the top of the stair dividing the adjacent rooms. To build these, they are pre-fabbed in the shop in parts with one coat of finish paint on top of primer and then installed on site. Then a final coat of paint is applied after caulking is done. The following photo is shot from the top step of the stairs. The base section is 30 inches high.

This photo is from inside the room in 3 parts so that one can see the cabinets engage the floor and ceiling by integrating the existing mouldings into the cabinet.

The section to the right is recessed back on top to clear the opening to the hallway.

These photos were taken with my phone and the last one is a little fuzzy for some reason.

Pine Office Wall Cabinet with Bookshelves

Here is a pine wall cabinet that was built and installed finished to match existing pine trim that was already in the house. The existing baseboard was incorporated into the cabinet at bottom, and the wall shows through in the cabinet sections above.

In order to match stains as many as five stains are mixed to acquire the right tone to match. Fluted pilasters are dividing the upper section that continue to the floor on the base section. There is an open section under the top center so that the cabinet may be used as a desk also. The upper shelf is fixed, while the rest of the shelves are adjustable. All the doors below are inset into the frame.
